Buddhist Temple
Columbus, Ohio

Project Info:

Development of a new, freestanding Buddhist Temple for the benefit of it's Columbus Practitioners which will be erected upon the site of the previous facility that burned down several years ago.The new center will give the Columbus Temple community a clean, bright new "home" to welcome people from all over central Ohio to learn meditation and Buddhist teachings, and provide more space for retreats and classes than they had in the previous facility. The new temple is designed to be compatible with the historic character of the Franklinton neighborhood and provide a prescribed, formal processional path to escape from the hustle and bustle of the urban sidewalk, preparing practitioners for the contemplative and meditative experience within. The interior of the Temple incorporates many traditional Buddhist details and its material expression taken from the sect's roots in India.
